Adrenal Support
The adrenal glands produce hormones to help regulate the bodies stress response.
Dysregulation and prolonged stress/chronic stress leads to excess cortisol production which can lead to adrenal function impairment and fatigue.
Signs and symptoms of stress levels having an impact on the function of your adrenal glands include:
- Unexplained hair loss
- Fatigue
- Brain fog
- Compromised immune system (feel run down frequently)
- Poor stress response
- Poor mood regulation
- Weight gain
- Decreased libido
- Cravings for salty and sweet foods
- Overuse of caffeine or other stimulants
- Feeling more alert in the evenings
So, how can we heal imbalances and restore function of the adrenal glands?
Here are some ways :
- Sleep and quality rest
- Gentle exercise (yoga is fab)
- Nutrition: avoiding sugar and caffeine
- Breathing exercises
- Setting healthy boundaries to known stressors
- Hydration
- Regulating the stress-related fight/flight response
I work with clients to tailor a yoga practice which works with the adrenal glands by gently massaging them. The repetitive movements pressurise and depressurise the specific glands and the subtle compression and decompression helps to regulate secretion without putting more stress into the system.
I also guide you through breathwork to aid nervous system regualtion and reduce stress.
